HUDA ALHARBI
THERE ARE FIVE KEY COMPONENTS, WHICH ARE TAKEN FROM THE MA RUBRIC, AROUND WHICH MY PROJECT IS BASED:
1) Content Knowledge. It examines the degree of my response in demonstrating how in-depth knowledge of the content that I plan to teach through inquiry, critical analysis, and synthesis of the subject. That is clearly seen through this project: In About me page and The Case Study page and sections.
2) Pedagogical Content Knowledge and Skills. That examines the degree of my response to reflecting a thorough understanding of the relationship of content and content-specific pedagogy. This is related to how the ESL teacher helped Ahmed in learning his second language, which is shown in my analysis of Ahmed’s challenges and what his ESL teacher did to solve them. That can be found in Pronunciation Difficulties page and Reading and Writing Difficulties page. Also, it can be seen in My Reflection.
3) Professional and Pedagogical Knowledge and Skills. That examines the degree of my response to: a) demonstrating knowledge of how to develop meaningful learning experiences to facilitate learning for Ahmed; b) reflecting knowledge of how Ahmed learns and how to make ideas accessible to him. This component is related to my courses, which can be found in Courses and Reflection, my Resume and my suggestions for using other teaching approaches, methods, and activities, which can be seen in Pronunciation Difficulties page and Reading and Writing Difficulties page.
4)Student Learning. That examines the degree of my response to: a) focusing on Ahmed’s learning; b) demonstrating in-depth knowledge of how to assess and analyze Ahmed’s learning, make appropriate adjustments to instruction, and monitor Ahmed learning; and c) demonstrating a thorough understanding of assessment and how to analyze Ahmed’s performance data to make decisions about strategies for teaching and learning so that all students learn. This component is noticeably seen in the way that I introduced Ahmed and his challenges, the ESL programs, the teachers, and the school in Setting and Target Student page. Also, it is easily seen in the way that I analyzed Ahmed’s performance and gave my suggestions for using other teaching approaches, methods, and activities through the Prounouncition Difficulties page and Reading and Writing Difficulties page.
5) Style and Scholarship. On each page, I cite my sources, and in References page, I list the references.
In this web-based project, I will first give a little personal background. Then I will explain four specific courses that I had taken in the MA program that helped me to investigate in and analyze my case study. Third, I am going to highlight the learner, his ESL teacher and the curriculum, methods, and techniques that were used in the case study. Finally, I will give my reflection on it.
